Full-Chain ODM/OEM Deep Customization Case: Custom Laser Engraving, Boot Animation & Exclusive UI AK102 Smartwatch

ZERO, Pakistan’s leading local smart wearable brand, has over 2 million active nationwide users. Pakistan’s market is flooded with generic identical smartwatches, and basic stock watches with simple sticker logos cannot help brands build competitive advantages. The brand put forward four core pain points: easily worn-off rear cover marks leading to counterfeiting risks, generic appearance indistinguishable from competitors, hardware unadapted to South Asia’s hot and humid climate, and factory default firmware lacking exclusive interfaces and local language support.

Taking our mature AK102 rugged smartwatch hardware platform as the foundation, we fulfilled its full ODM/OEM deep customization demands. All work — rear cover laser engraving, exterior restyling, hardware parameter calibration, exclusive boot animation design, customized system UI development, localized firmware programming and matching packaging design — was completed independently in-house. We launched a differentiated watch series exclusive to Pakistan’s market, consolidating ZERO’s leading domestic market position.

No outsourcing was involved in the entire customization process; all modification, development and processing procedures were finished by our internal R&D and production teams. Our complete customized work is divided into four core modules:

We abandoned cheap stickers and pad printing widely used in the industry, and deployed high-precision fiber laser engraving equipment to conduct deep etching on the watch’s stainless steel back case:

1. Typeset and design ZERO’s exclusive large brand logo, and layout all printed content on the rear cover;
2. Permanently engrave complete product specifications: 1.7-inch IPS screen, IP68 water resistance, heart rate & blood pressure monitoring and other hardware parameters;
3. Add exclusive anti-counterfeit serial numbers, RoHS and CE certification marks for integrated one-step engraving;
4. Adjust laser carving depth to ensure permanent, clear markings that never wear off from daily friction, eliminating brand counterfeiting risks fundamentally from hardware.   

Our structural and mold teams developed ZERO’s full visual identity system from scratch:

1. Revised the watch case mold to create an exclusive rugged anti-slip shell texture, customized electroplated orange power knob, and applied matte sandblasting finish for scratch resistance across the whole watch;
2. Reopened molds for 24mm widened anti-slip silicone straps and exclusive metal buckles matched to the watch case, optimizing ergonomic wearing experience;
3. Designed exclusive retail packaging boxes with two versions: one for offline supermarket shelf display and another for online e-commerce logistics, finishing packaging sample printing and mass production preparation.   

Our hardware engineers rewrote and tested all unit parameters to adapt to Pakistan’s climate and power grid conditions:

1. Recalibrated sensitivity of heart rate, blood oxygen and blood pressure sensors, conducting repeated high-temperature & humidity cycle tests to fit year-round hot and humid weather in South Asia;
2. Optimized internal structure of side GPS, power and function buttons, adjusting pressing stroke and vibration motor feedback intensity;
3. Rewrote lithium battery charge & discharge management program to accommodate unstable household grid voltage locally and improve daily battery life;
4. Performed mass sample cycle aging tests to guarantee calibrated hardware parameters stable for mass production.                 

Our in-house firmware R&D team carried out independent secondary development of the entire watch system, designing all interfaces, animations and functions from scratch:

1. Drafted and produced exclusive power-on boot animation: a full-screen startup graphic featuring ZERO’s circular Z icon and vertical brand lettering, which is embedded into the bottom layer of system firmware;
2. Reconstructed the full system UI: redesigned the main standby watch face with a dedicated ZERO brand banner on the top, unified the brand’s orange-black color scheme, and independently drew full layout templates for step, distance, calorie dashboards, sports tracking and health monitoring pages;
3. Established data synchronization protocols compatible with ZERO’s self-developed supporting mobile App, completed joint hardware & software debugging and full-functional unit testing, and finalized exclusive firmware for bulk production.                                      

After we delivered the full set of customized solutions, ZERO has maintained the No.1 sales volume among local Pakistani smartwatch brands, with its nationwide active user base exceeding 2 million and stable long-term repeat orders. Permanent rear cover engraving, exclusive boot animation, customized UI, unique exterior and localized hardware calibration form irreplicable brand differentiation advantages against competitors. All customized specifications can be stably reproduced during mass production with a low defective rate.

The ZERO project fully demonstrates our one-stop independent customization capacity: all rear cover laser marking, mold modification, hardware calibration, boot animation & UI firmware development and packaging design are completed in-house without third-party middlemen.
